Rembrant, the oil painting and engraving artist of the 17th century, is one of the most important names in the history of art with his works realized with rich colors, different brush strokes and light-shadow technique. With his skill in the use of light and shadow, he has realized oil painting, gravure and drawing works. Rembrant's paintings have brought Dutch painting to the highest levels.
In the detailed work done in Rembrandt paintings, the surface of the canvases was found to be quite rough. When the paints used by the painter in a thick way overlap with the rough structure of the surface, the light-shadow play has reached impressive dimensions. The painter has made this choice understandable.
